| I live in southern oregon where the summers are very hot and dry, Ihave lost one wisteria plant last season,but just purchased another today 2yrs old no blooms but very nice foliage can you please let me know the proper sun fertilizer watering etc. so this one might survive?! |
| Wisteria is a long lived and beautiful spring flowering vine. The blooms are violet and hang in long racemes. Wisteria needs full sun and a very sturdy support because it is a large, heavy vine reaching 30 feet or more. It can also be trained into a tree shape by growing it on a single post and pruning it very hard. Eventually the vine will thicken enough to support the "tree" by itself. Prune after bloom, cutting the new growth back to three buds. This will encourage the development of new flowering wood. Apply ample water and feed by spreading a thick compost mulch around the root area. (Too much nitrogen fertilizer will produce vigorous top growth at the expense of blooms.) |
