One of the best most effective controls for asparagus beetles is to clean up and remove all of the old stems in the fall so that the pest has no place to overwinter. Next, each spring, cutting the new shoots often and just below the soil surface will help remove the newly laid asparagus beetle eggs from the bed. Diatomaceous earth would not be recommended in this instance.
