Question: Why do leaves turn brown on oriental poppy plant?

Answer: Oriental poppies go dormant in midsummer, after they bloom. This is normal. They usually send up some new foliage in the fall, grow vigorously in early spring, then bloom and finally, die back to the ground and disappear.
