For a few years now, when my apricots reach large marble size they get brown spots on them. What is this and how do I control it?

You're describing symptoms of brown rot, a fungal disease common in apricots. To prevent the spread, remove infected fruit as soon as it's discovered. Prune your tree to provide an open center which will encourage better air circulation. Finally, rake to remove all fallen leaves at the end of the season. There are fungicides you can spray if the good garden sanitation practices listed above don't completely control the disease.
