Privacy Hedge-type Plants - Knowledgebase Question

We need a privacy-hedge-type plant which can grow as much as eight feet tall, and thrive in heavy clay soil. Any suggestions?

Here are some good screen plants that grow eight to ten feet tall:
hedge cotoneaster (sun or shade)
upright juniper (sun only)
corneliancherry dogwood (sun or part shade)
Techny arborvitae (sun or part shade)
wayfaringtree viburnum (sun or part shade)
