CAN MARIGOLDS BE PLANTED DEEPER THAN WHAT THEY WERE GROWN IN I NOTICED MORE ROOTS COMING OUT ALONG THE STEM, SIMILAR TO TOMATOES PLANTS AND ARE THEY RELATED BECAUSE THEY HAVE SIMILAR LEAVES.

Marigolds can be planted very slightly deeper than they grew in the pot, but not too much because they are sensitive to changes in soil depth. Tomatoes are somewhat unique in being adaptable to different planting depths and techniques.
