| One section of a Dodonea hedge keeps dying off, typically one branch at a time. While there is known to be Oak Root Fungus in the area, there are no visible signs that that disease is killing off these plants. Verticillium wilt is our next guess -- though I haven't yet inspected the tissues for dark streaking. We have replanted the area once already and before sinking any more money into additional Dodoneas, I was wondering if there is any hedging plant which is resistant to Verticillium? Any ideas would be helpful! |
| Verticillium wilt is caused by a fungi which attacks the vascular systems of plants. The wilt fungi remains in the soil if there are suitable hosts. Plant debris and some commonly encountered organic matter can sustain the life of the fungal spores until another suitable host is planted in the same soil.
