My radish and carrot seedlings have come up in clusters. When I thin, do I separate each individual "leaf" or can I leave together in bunches of two and threes?

Ultimately, you need to get them spaced far enough apart to develop the vegetable underground, so you will have to go leaf by little leaf sooner or later. If they are in clumps they will not have room to grow. Next time try to spend a little extra time seeding further apart and save yourself (more) time later, thinning.
