The Q&A Archives: Spiral Tree Or Shrub

Question: I'm looking for a tree or shrubs (small) that is spiral I've seen it at the ned of homes. I would like the name of the tree and some information about it.

Answer: Unfortunately, based on your description I am not exactly sure which plant you are describing, but it may be an upright-growing variety of juniper that has been regularly trimmed and trained into the spiral shape. If so, this is an evergreen that requires at least a half day of strong sun and soil that is well drained, meaning not soggy. You might take a photo of one to a local nursery to verify the identity of the plant you have in mind.
