I was wondering what would be good to plant with lilies. I have some in the back of an area where I would like it to have an English garden look. What should I plant that would compliment them and also give some height to that back area. I also have some rose bushes in another area and was wondering what would look good mixed in with them.

Some favorite plants to include in lily beds include phlox, Shasta daisies, irises, delphiniums and balloon flowers. All will fill in low places between the lilies and provide contrasting color and foliage texture. Roses like to be the center of attention and don't especially appreciate competition for food and water, but you can plant blue fescue, lavender or santolina in the bed near the roses. Each of these plants has similar requirements to your roses for all day sunshine. Enjoy creating your English garden!
