I have just purchased several cottonwood trees to plant on our property. How far apart do I need to plant each tree?

There are many different cottonwoods, and all are fast growing. Some remain upright, growing to 60' tall and remaining quite narrow. Others grow 40' tall by 30' wide. Without knowing which you have, it's hard to make a recommendation about spacing. Cottonwoods have extremely invasive root systems so be sure to plant them well away from sidewalks, sewer lines, septic systems and lawns!
