| I HAVE A JAPANESE MAPLE THAT ALL OF A SUDDEN HAS AN INSECT PROBLEM. THEY ARE LITTLE BLACK INSECTS THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE APHIDS. THEY ARE SUCKING MY TREE DRY WHAT CAN I DO TO GET RID OF THEM AND REVITALIZE MY TREE? IT ALSO HAS SOME DEAD BRANCHES BUT THEY ARE NOT DOWN TO THE TRUNK AS OF YET. |
| Aphids are small, soft bodied, sucking insects that can be dislodged by a strong spray of water from the garden hose and repeated as needed. However, you might want to consult with your county extension (431-7260) to obtain a more definite identification of the pest and suggested controls for it that are also appropriate for use on Japanese maples. |
