Slow Growing Fig Tree - Knowledgebase Question

This is the third season for our 5 gallon fig tree and it is not growing. Any suggestions?

You've been very patient with your fig tree! Figs will tolerate shade, but they thrive in full sunshine. Provide well draining, fertile loam, and water when the soil begins to dry out. You can encourage new growth by pruning the branches back by about a third and fertilizing lightly (place 2"-3" inches of aged-compost or aged-manure over the top of the soil). With the above treatment your fig should begin producing new wood.
