The Q&A Archives: Planting

Question: I am looking for some different types of flowers and plants that do well in shaded areas.I have an area beside my house and walkway thats 3' wide by 20' long that gets very little direct sunlight if any.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer: There are many plants that do well in indirect light or light to medium shade. Annuals would include impatiens, fibrous rooted begonias, pink polka dot plant, coleus and caladium. Perennials would include hosta (available in many colors, leaf shapes, and sizes), ferns, lungwort, Solomon's Seal, tricyrtis, lamium, and ajuga. I hope this gives you a start.
