There are several ways to control slugs. You can hand pick them and drop them into soapy water, spray them with a mixture of ammonia and water, set out traps baited with beer, or use commercial slug baits according to the label instructions. You can encourage toads and snakes and other natural predators, and also make the area less inviting to slugs by avoiding evening watering, and by disturbing the soil surface in early spring to destroy their eggs.
