Should I pull up tulip and hyacinth bulbs in the spring after the leaves wilt? I have been told this preserves the bulb. I received some special bulbs from Holland and wish to keep them (blooming, of course, for several years. , so what do you recommend?

It is better to leave them in place. Allow the foliage to grow and mature and yellow completely before removing it. Dispose of it in the trash to reduce any chance of disease or other problem. Growing them in the ground this way allows the bulbs ample time to replenish their strength for next year. You might also give them some complete fertilizer next fall when they begin to root and again next spring as they begin to sprout through the soil.
