| There are several possible suspects, ranging from birds to slugs to woodchucks and other animals. Slugs will leave a slime trail and the plants can be protected by encircling them with a layer of diatomaceous earth. If you are sure it is a creature other than slugs, you might try caging them with wire mesh until they are a bit larger. If it is being done by birds, they should stop when the plants are a bit bigger. In the meantime, try to determine the cause of the damage so you can take steps to stop it. |
