Roses can be fertilized with a complete granular fertilizer such as 10-10-10- or 5-10-5, with compost and/or well rotted manure, with a water sooluble fertilizer, or with a combination of these or similar products. Some fertilizers are formulated specifically for roses, as well. Simply follow the label instructions for roses.

Roses would grow best in a soil that has been deeply prepared with organic matter and provides even moisture yet is well drained. The precise amount of fertilizer or other amendments such as lime would be added based on the results of soil tests. Your county extension (433-6731) can help you with the tests and interpreting the results. Assuming your soil is consistent, they would all be treated about the same way.
