| I'd like to plant some flowers along with the Pennisetum Orientale that has just started to bloom. Would you suggest Asters, or would something else work better, as the area is a raised small pie shaped planter, with a seating area (brick with a rock face). This area gets morning shade, early afternoon sun and light shade in the afternoon. |
| Pennisetum orientale is a clumping ornamental grass producing pinkish plumes that fade to light brown at maturity. Plants grow about 1 1/2' tall, so a companion plant should be slightly lower or slightly higher than your Pennisetum. Some considerations include the brightly colored Tithonia, Liatris, Cosmos or Armeria. Aster frikartii or Scabiosa are also attractive when mixed with Pennisetum. There are so many choices!
