| The most common reasons for a lilac not to bloom are lack of sunshine and improper pruning. Lilacs need full sun to bloom their best, and since they bloom on last year's growth, should only be pruned immediately after they bloom in the spring. Pruning in summer or fall or early spring will remove the flowering wood. |
