Not all seeds should be soaked. Soaking aids those with hard seed coats and/or larger sizes, including many seeds from the legume family such as lupine and sweet pea. Tiny seeds such as carrots and lettuces, or wispy "grassy" type seeds, such as bachelor's button or marigolds, don't benefit from soaking. If you have questions about specific seeds, please send another email to the Q&A site and we'll be happy to provide pointers on enhancing germination. We're glad that you enjoy the site!
