How can I prevent deer from eating my plants? As of this date they have eaten all the flowers off both my violets and my pansies!! They seem to leave the violets alone that I have planted under a maple tree. Please help!!

Unfortunately, deer can be very difficult to control or deter. They are creatures of habit and will return repeatedly to browse. Some gardeners report success using repellents (either commerical or home-made with garlic and/or red pepper) but in my sad experience, the only reliable long term solution is a fence.
