The weather conditions in Flushing N.Y. has been stormy and hitting 56 degrees or less at night. Is it safe to plant my tomato seedlings outdoors or should we wait? |
Tomatoes can be planted outside once the soil has warmed and nights are reliably in the 40's or warmer. The plants should be acclimated to the outdoors or hardened off gradually, and then transplanted. A rainy or cloudy day is best, but certainly a severe heavy thunderstorm or hail would not do them much good assuming you have a choice and can wait for a slightly less active weather pattern. |
