When deadheading peonies, etc. how much do you remove, Just the faded flower part or the whole head or do you snip a little or the stem too?

On peonies, you would remove the entire flower and a portion of the stem, cutting just above a leaf. Many perennials would be treated thesame way, although some can also be sheared once the majority of blooms have faded.
