| How can I prevent birdseed sprouting when it falls from my feeders into my flower beds? I feed many kinds of birds and do not want to do anything to jeopardize their health. Any help will be appreciated, by both me and the birds. |
| Although you might want to consider using a pre-emergent such as corn gluten, another approach would be to cover the ground with a heavy layer of mulch that is regularly disturbed and refreshed, perhaps over top of several layers of newspaper. This would make a less inviting area for the seeds to germinate and would make it very easy to pull any that did mange to sprout. |
