My 84 yr.old mother is about to have a heart attack since all her new buds are being chewed off by deer at night.HELP!! She lives for her roses. What can be tried that is short of building a fence, she is not rich...? She lives for her roses and is very unhappy. We read about the solution of eggs, tabasco, water andwilt pruf. Do you spray it on leaves? I'm not a gardener and she doesn't know how to turn a computer on. Thanks, desperate daughter.

Here is a recipe I found. I haven't tried it myself, so I can't vouch for its effectiveness. This deterrent is based on the fact that deer do not like the smell of decaying egg. Mix in one gallon of water one egg, 1 tablespoon hot sauce, and 4 tablespoons of an anti-transpirent such as Never Wilt or Wilt Pruf . The anti-transpirent is crucial as it keeps the solution on for about two months. Let us know how it works for you!
