Unfortunately, it sounds like your tree is suffering a severe problem. Any time there is trunk damage combined with a poorly developed canopy there is certainly extreme stress and the tree may not survive. It would be difficult to determine however if the problem is caused by the rot or if it is due to poor rooting or some other factor or a combination of factors. You might wish to consult with a professionally trained, certified arborist about the prognosis for your tree. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. |
