I have a flower box area (18 " tall tie wall behind) in full sun and I would like suggestions for annuals that are colorful and can tolerate various weather conditions. I am tired of marigolds and geraniums.

Since you have been using marigolds and geraniums, I assume this is a sunny spot. You might try blue salvia Victoria, Profusion zinnia, dwarf tithonia, dusty miller or flowering vinca rosea in a either a pink or white. Verbena, ornamental sweet potato vine and the shorter types of cosmos would also do well there. Smaller dahlias would also do well if you can keep the area well watered.
