I live on the ocean and it is ALWAYS windy. I have been trying to plant a container garden but the wind always knocks the life out of any plant I try..Is there anything i can do about this? |
Probably the most effective approach would be to create a windbreak of some sort. Wind is very drying, so in addition, you might try using oversized containers and using a water holding polymer in the soil mix. Finally, you might try some of the more heat and drought tolerant plants such as verbena, succulents, salvia, ornamental grasses, silvery leafed plants such as lavender, artemesia, achillea, and sedum spectabilis, and possibly some of the more drought tolerant herbs such as sage, thyme and oregano. |
