I was given a plant for mother's day which has 5 different kinds of plants in one pot. My question is how do I find out which plants they are and how to care for them.

There are several ways to approach this. One of the easiest is to ask someone who has a lot of house plants if they can help you. Another is to go to a place where they sell house plants and check the labels of plants that match yours. Another would be to look at a book or two about house plants and see if you can find them there. A good book to try might be "Houseplants for Dummies" by Larry Hodgson, ISBN 0-7645-5102-7, Dummy Press. This book includes a section of color photos of many of the house plants we are most likely to see as well as detailed care information for many kinds of houseplants, both foliage and flowering. Enjoy your gift!
