The Q&A Archives: Flowers For Sun

Question: I need to fill a planter 31 ft long/31 inches deep/approx 20" high - full sun. I would like some suggested plants.
Want color - am considering lavender, gardenia, roses, begonias, Thanks for your help.

Answer: Roses and lavender are good choices for your sunny garden site but begonias and gardenias won't be very happy under those conditions. How about annual asters (in a rainbow of colors), Black-eyed-Susan, nicotiana, dahlias, cosmos, gladiolus, echinacea, Asiatic lilies, liatris and gazania's are all sun-loving plants with brightly colored flowers. Enjoy!
