I want a dwarf liliac bush in a deep purple (violet). Is there such a thing? |
Well, it depends on what you mean by dwarf! There is a lilac hybrid called Syringa prestoniae that grows between 6-10 feet in height. Most lilacs (Syringa) are considered medium to large shrubs, or sometimes small trees, growing 8-20 feet tall, depending on the species. S. prestoniae comes in a wide range of colors, including one described as purple to violet, and another as dark rosy purple. However, one description said they are not as fragrant as other lilacs, so you may want to verify that if it is important to you. I have not had the opportunity to "sniff" any of the S. prestoniae, so I can't give my opinion! I hope this info helps! |
