The Q&A Archives: Rosa Rugosa Coming Out Of Dormancy

Question: When will my Rosa Rugosa come out of dormancy?
How can I tell if they are alive?

Answer: Newly planted roses can take weeks to come out of dormancy. The canes should stay firm and should not change color. The buds should also stay plump and eventually begin to swell. If the tips of the canes are beginning to shrivel, you may have a problem.
