I noticed lots of "slugs" this year when planting my flowers and some of the leaves look like they may have been eaten. How can I get rid of these "slugs"?

There are a number of ways to control slugs. Sprinkling diatomaceous earth on the soil around the plants, setting out traps baited with beer, and using one of the newer less toxic slug products such as Sluggo or Escargo should do it. You can also handpick them at night when they are active -- simply drop them into soapy, salty water.
