| I bought soybean seeds and planted them in a large container. They're growing well, but I wonder just how large they will get and whether they will need staking. Do the plants support themselves, or will each one need a stake? |
| Shiratori soybeans or "vegetable soybeans" have a bushier habit than field-type soybeans and should have no problem supporting themselves. If you do find that they're in danger of flopping over, place several stakes around the perimeter of the pot and then wind some twine between and around the stakes, criss-crossing like a spider web. Allow the plants to grow up between the strings so they will be supported as a group. |
