This is a melon variety (also sometimes considered a category of its own) that is often grown commercially in Claifornia for example. It is similar to the Canary melons in that it matures late and the rind is "corrugated" with green and yellow mottling. The melons are about 6 inches across and sweet, with a pale green to pale orange interior. The name reflects its excellent or long keeping quality.
