The Q&A Archives: Source for Soil Sifter (Sieve)

Question: I would like to know who manufactures a (for lack of a better term) a Soil Sifter, a device that used to sift ordinary soil (earth). I want to remove most of the rock debris etc. from soil I am moving from one area of my property to another. I perfer amanual device, but electric powered would be fine. The requirements are: Capable of holding 3-4 large shovelfuls of earth; sift out the soil (by what ever means) and then be able to dump the rock etc. that does not sift out, into a container. I prefersomething that can be turned by a hand crank, vs. something that you have to shuttle back and forth. Thank you for your help in advance. jt holmes woodstock, GA

Answer: I don't know of a company that sells an actual soil sieve as you'd see in a big composting operations, but the following company carries hand sieves and might know where else to look for larger machines, Ben Meadows Co. 3589 Broad St., Atlanta,GA 30341 800-241-6401 If you have a commercial composting operation in your area, you might want to contact them also. Good luck.
