| I have about a dozen Coral Bells. Last year they came down with rust, I sprayed with Daconil. This year they came up well, and then when the rain became frequent, rust attacked many of the plants. I removed every leaf with any rust on it (that I noticed), and I want to do what I can to bring them back to be robust. What should I do? I have not sprayed anything yet, it is still raining daily. |
| Sanitation is important and so clean up is the right approach. Make sure to clean up carefully in the fall as well. You might try using a spray containing neem oil to try to prevent and control the rust. Meanwhile, allowing adequate spacing between the plants, minimizing overhead watering especially at night, and doing anything you can to increase the air circulation should all help. A top dressing of compost may also help the plants maintain better vigor and be more able to ward off and recover from the disease. |
