| We just purchased a blood orange tree and found a dwarf blood orange tree at another nursery already producing fruit. Is there a difference in the fruit they bear? How long would I have to wait to see fruit on my regular blood orange tree? Your insight is greatly appreciated. |
| Maturity is the key to fruit production. It's possible the dwarf cultivar is older than your tree (although it would be hard to tell by size), and therefore ready to bear fruit. Give your tree another year or two and it should be in full production. There's no difference in size or taste of the fruit, whether it comes from a standard or a dwarf tree. (Dwarf trees are simply grafted onto dwarfing rootstock which tends to keep the trees shorter than their standard cousins.) Hope this clarifies things for you. |
