The Q&A Archives: Planting Ranunculus Tubers

Question: I ordered Ranunculus. I don't know which way to plant them. Do I put the spiked part facing down into the earth or upward? Kelly Paramus, NJ

Answer: You'll plant the tuber so that the spike is pointed down into the soil. Soak the tubers in water for several hours and then set them about 4" deep in the soil. If you are planting them outside, you'll need to dig them up in the fall and store in dry peat moss at 55 degrees F for the winter.
