For the last 4 years I tried planting flowers aroud my deck but every year the weeds out grow the plants and I have to replant new flowers each year. I tired weeds stoppers, pulling the weeds but the weeds finaly win. What kinds of flowers can I plant that stop the weeds from growing? |
Unfortunately, most garden flowers are less aggressive than the worst weeds. The best way to control weeds is to mulch. You can lay newspaper or cardboard down and add several inches of mulch on top of that and it will suppress all but the most pernicious of weeds. Any weeds that do manage to come up through that barrier are likely to be long established perennial weeds and can be cut off repeatedly or can be treated with an herbicide containing glyphosate according to the label instructions. By controlling those and not allowing them to go to seed, each year the garden becomes less weedy. |
