We have a butterfly bush currently in bloom, and some of the flower stalks are getting to the very tip. Do you cut the flower stalks off once all the the blossoms are done or do they continue growing out?

Buddleia can be trimmed or even cut back heavily to promote new growth and rebloom. To trim it, simply cut bloom stalks back about 6" to 12" below the base of the bloom. For heavier trimming cut the bush back by 1/3 to 1/2. This will help maintain this vigorous shrub at a smaller size and will result in lots of vigorous new shoots and blooms.

Thanks for the question and please let us know if we can be of more assistance!
