I live in a wooded area and have always had beautiful impatients. This year something is eating them. I have been seeing chipmunks frequently in the front lawn. Would this be the culprit? What can I use to deter the chipmunks?

Although I have never seen a chipmunk bother impatiens, I would not rule it out, either. It could also be (more likely) a woodchuck or a deer. You might try using a repellent spray, either the commercially prepared types or home-made using garlic and/or red pepper.
