I have been harvesting lots of great cucumbers. They go soft in the fridge within a day or two if I don't eat them. Meanwhile, the store bought ones in the fridge stay firm. Other than fertilizing with viagra, what can I do to keep them after I pick them for more than a day or two.

Thanks.

The cucumbers in the grocery store have been coated with wax or oil for example to help keep them firm. They are also different varieties developed to hold and ship well. Hence the traditional method of keeping cucumbers by pickling. You can also share them with your neighbors. Do make sure you are picking them before they are too ripe, most can be picked before reaching their full size and may keep a bit longer that way.
