What causes new leaves of a Birch Tree to look like they are drying out or turning brown?

Unfortunately, there are a number of possible causes for this ranging from borer or other insect infestation to water stress for examples. You might wish to consult with your UMASS extension or with a professionally trained and certified arborist as to the cause and best steps to take about the problem.
