It is advisable to cut-off the side vines that come from the main vine in a pumpkin plant?
I am trying to just yield about 4 to 6 pumpkins of medium size. If I trim the side shoots will it help promote more and larger friut on the main vine?

Trimming the side shoots can help develop larger pumpkins that mature faster as long as you have limited the number of pumpkins that are allowed to develop on the vine. You also need to keep the vine well fed and evenly watered for optimum development.
