| My cherry tomato plants are doing well, but I wasn't sure if I was supposed to break off the top? I remember reading somewhere that after the plant has so many flower stems, that the top of the plant should be broken off to encourage the growth of fruit. I'm not sure if that applies to cherry tomatoes, too? If so, where and when should I do this? Thank you very much. |
| If you're anxious for your tomatoes to ripen, you can break off the tops of the plants, but this will stop additional blossoming and additional fruiting. Since your growing season is long enough to promote additional fruiting, I'd leave the plants alone so they will produce the ultimate number of fruits. |
