Catnip is a member of the mint family, so grows and spreads fairly easily. It likes a rich soil that is well-drained, takes moderate water and will take full sun or some afternoon shade. Cats usually don't actually eat the catnip, although they might chew on the leaves. They like to roll around in the plants, though! Any leaves will be fine. You can also dry them and sew them into cloth toys for cats to bat around!
