What's the best way to prune Wild Roses? The roses have pink flowers. |
Rosa rugosa is a wild rose that grows most anywhere, so this is probably the variety you have. The plants will grow up to 8' tall and wide, but mostly they just trail on the ground. These are very tough and hardy roses; you can prune at any time of the year. Cut out some of the oldest stems and cut the remaining stems back by about one-third. If you need to reduce the plant size by more than that, plan on pruning it back again next year, in the early spring. |
