The Q&A Archives: Flowering Blue Annuals for Hot Summers

Question: Are there some blue flowers (annual preferably, but perennial will do) that do well in hot, summer sun. This flower bed tends to be dry from time to time during the summer. It needs plants that are fairly tall. Help! Polly Craddock Charlottesville, VA

Answer: Here are a couple of blue annual options for you, both avaiable from Park's Seed Co.: Larkspur Giant Imperial 'Blue Spire' (4'-5' tall) and Lisanthus Heidi hybrid, Deep Blue (18"). Park's can be reached by calling 864-223-7333. I suggest mulching the soil in the flowerbed to keep the soil cooler and maintain even moisture, if that has been a problem.
